The Rudder

The Fourth invention that I chose was the rudder. It took 1,100 years for the rudder to be adopted by the west. Untill it was adopted long voyages were nearly impossible without long hours of stearing the boat by hand. The rubber was invented in the first century. Although the rudders were invented after the compass they can to Europe around the same time. Similar rudders were made to like the fenestrated rudder which is just a normal rudder with holes in it. This type of rudder was not introduced to the west untill 1901. The reason that I chose the rudder as one of my inventions is because without it America would not have been found. The rudder caused many long voyages and trips to become possible.
